What Is Proofreading?
Still not sure if what I do is what you’re looking for? Here is a quick outline (but not an exhaustive list) of what a proofreader does:
checks for grammatical errors such as concentrating on subject/verb agreement, pronouns and their antecedents, comma splices, sentence fragments and run-ons, and misplaced modifiers
checks for consistency
checks for misspellings and homophones (words that sound the same, but are spelled differently)
checks for formatting issues such as extra spaces, correct indents, and properly numbered pages
I work from The Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition) but if you have a preferred style guide or reference guide I will work from it.
I will only edit your work if that is what we have agreed upon, and the rates below will change to reflect the deeper work.
These are base estimates of project pricing and are subject to change (higher or lower) based on your unique project and its needs.
